The short version
Declare uses a small number of cookies and on-device storage to make the app work: remembering your theme, your language, what you save, and keeping you signed in. We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used so we can make it better. We do not sell your data, and we do not run ads.
Things Declare itself stores
These are needed for the app to work the way you set it up:
- Theme (declare-theme): your Light, Dark, or Auto choice.
- Language (declare-lang): your English or Spanish choice.
- Sign-in session: a secure cookie that keeps you signed in to your account.
- Your Vault and Journey: verses, declarations, and progress are kept on your device, and synced to your account when you are signed in.
- This notice (declare-cookies-ok): remembers that you accepted it, so we only ask once.
Analytics (Google)
We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to see, in aggregate, which pages help people and how visitors find us. Google sets cookies (such as _ga) for this. It tells us things like page views and visit counts; it is not used to identify you personally by us. You can block these in your browser settings or with Google’s own opt-out tools.
Giving (Stripe)
If you choose to give, our payment partner Stripe may set cookies during checkout for secure payment and fraud prevention. Stripe’s own privacy and cookie policies apply there.
Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies anytime in your browser settings. If you do, Declare still works, but you may be signed out and your theme and language will reset to the defaults.
